Check-in and Admission
Arrive at the time provided by SPOSC. Check in at the front desk with your photo identification and insurance information. Staff will confirm your identity, procedure, responsible adult and required documentation.
What to Expect
- Registration staff verify your information and required documents.
- A clinical team member brings you to the pre-operative area.
- The care team reviews your health history, medications, allergies and procedure.
- Your surgeon and anesthesia professional complete required assessments and answer final questions.
- After the procedure, you are monitored in recovery until discharge criteria are met.
Family and Visitor Information
Your responsible adult should remain available throughout the visit as instructed. Space and clinical needs may limit the number of people who can accompany a patient. Staff will explain where family members may wait and how updates will be communicated.
How Families Receive Updates
Ask the registration or nursing team at check-in how your designated support person will receive updates. Communication will take patient privacy and the care team's workflow into account.
Recovery Area
After surgery, nurses monitor breathing, circulation, comfort, nausea, alertness and the surgical area. The length of recovery varies by procedure, anesthesia and individual response.
Recovery and Discharge
You will receive written and verbal discharge instructions. Your responsible adult should listen to these instructions, ask questions and help you follow the initial recovery plan at home.
Accessibility Accommodations
Contact SPOSC in advance if you need a reasonable accommodation, mobility support, communication aid or language assistance during your visit.
